Pensions: How do you keep yours safe?

Employee benefits can be very complex. If you need assistance, contact an expert such as an employee benefits attorney or a pension plan administrator.

Your ability to receive a pension from an employer can depend on a variety of factors, including:

  • The type of benefit provided by the employer
  • The length of time you are with the organization
  • Your age
  • Whether you have left employment
  • Other factors

Free counseling available

If you have concerns about a benefit or think you have a right to a pension, the Pension Rights Project of the Minnesota Senior Federation offers free pension counseling and claims assistance. It will respond to individual requests directly and with technical help, to include the following areas: Claims Procedures, Technical Assistance, Rights and Advocacy, Related Benefits.
